Cooking Gas Supply: Two Vessels Berthing Soon

West Africa and most especially Nigeria is set to receive 2 vessels conveying gas few weeks from now. Two newly built vessels, MT Africa Gas and MT Sahara Gas are billed to arrive March 2017 to discharge their consignment.

This is unconnected to federal government’s commitment to ensuring that cooking gas is readily available to Nigerians. The arrival of the two vessels will surely provide the needed respite for majority of cooking gas users who have been battling with its scarcity for some time now.

Also, this will not only bring down the price of the product but also, help in reducing the problem of adulteration often perpetrated by some fraudulent sellers.

So many problems have plagued the sector over the years. One major problem aside from low supply is lack of LPG vessels. Kudos to West Africa Gas Limited and Sahara group that have been able to rise up to the challenges that have plagued the West African coast for a very long time.

Also, we must commend the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and NNPC for this giant stride. They have done really well to ensure that consumers have access to safe and reliable energy for their daily needs. It is amazing that the joint venture between NNPC and Sahara group is already producing outstanding result within a very short period of time.

Also, it is expected that this will encourage more Nigerians to dump their conventional firewood and kerosene usage for cooking. LPG is said to be safer compare to kerosene and firewood. Additionally, it is cheaper if the current price of kerosene in the country is anything to go by.

The launching of the two vessels in South Korea marks the beginning of long term solution to a problem that has bewildered the sub region for several decades.
