No recent explosion at gas pipeline – NLNG

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has said that the earlier reported pipeline explosion did not occur at any of its gas pipelines.

This disclosure was made by no other man than the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tony Attah, during the week while speaking on the sidelines at the just concluded Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition.

In his words: “Let me first correct the impression that the explosion was on NLNG line. I read a few things from yourselves saying that NLNG pipeline exploded.

“No, the pipeline does not belong to us, it is true that we also have a line in the same corridor but in this instance, it is not our line.

“But we are partnering with the company whose line is impacted to ensure that we restore operations.

“We are not receiving gas from them as at moment because of the situation but we are working to have them come back because if they are back, we are sure to receive more supply to fill our trans 1-6 as you can expect.’’

“It is quite an unfortunate incident for this company but it is certainly not an NLNG line. I must emphasise that to you.”

You will recall that both the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and NLNG earlier this week were trading blames on the said explosion. The NLNG  did accuse Integrated Data Services Limited, a subsidiary of NNPC of  being the brain behind the explosion but in a swift reaction to the allegation, both IDSL and NNPC say it was baseless reason being that IDSL observed required safety distance as contained in their contract.
Anyway, the good news is that the owners of the ruptured pipe is already fixing it and normalcy will return to all operations in the area.
What are your thoughts? Why the initial accusation when the incident has not been investigated?
