NNPC Says Crude Oil Sales Automation Almost Ready

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC says the automation of crude oil sales by the corporation may become a reality by the last quarter of 2018. This is contained in the corporation’s quarterly magazine publication. The crude oil sales automation is embarked upon by the corporation to ensure transparency in its operations.

According to the corporation, “The corporation at the moment has succeeded in automating its oil marketing processes to almost 98 per cent. What that means is that we have a seamless process that can be seen on an electronic platform that can be validated by all so that human intervention is reduced.”

The project is said to have reached 98% completion as at the time of the publication. This information is coming from no other but from the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division of the corporation, Malam Mele Kyari.

This laudable move will sure ensure transparency and accountability in the corporation’s transactions with regards to supply, marketing, and sale of the various grades of Nigeria’s crude oil across the globe. What is yet unknown is whether this will totally erode the many ambiguities and secrecy that has bewildered crude oil sales in Nigeria or still leave room for loopholes.
